G.91R Introduction

The G.91 is an Italian jet fighter of the Cold War era that was designed and optimized for strike and reconnaissance missions. The G.91 originated from the 1953 NATO NBMR-1 competition that sought a "LightWeight Strike Fighter" to be adopted as standard equipment across the air forces of the various member nations. 

The G.91 was declared the winner of the competition in 1958, and it entered operational service with the Italian Air Force in 1961 and West German Luftwaffe service the following year. It was also evaluated by the U.S. Air Force, and it was adopted by the Portuguese Air Force. It saw extensive service during the Portuguese Colonial War in Angola and Mozambique. 

IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulation is developing a full fidelity module in four versions:

• R1B (Italian version) with four 12.7 mm Browning M3 machine guns and two underwing hardpoints.
• R/3 (German Version) with two 30 mm DEFA M552 cannons and four underwing hardpoints.
• R/4 (Portuguese Version), hybrid version between R1B and R/3 with four 12.7 mm Browning M3 machine guns and four underwing hardpoints.
• PAN, aerobatic version converted from the A version for “Frecce Tricolori” Aerobatic Team.

Open Beta Development Progress

The DCS Open Beta has been updated to version 2.7.18.30348 this week. This version includes several bug fixes to the DCS: F-16C Viper and AIM-120 guidance improvements. It also includes the AH-64D and Mi-24P Multi-Crew seat swap option for Multiplayer. Please read the full changelog for details.
