DCS MB-339 - PROJECT UPDATE AND FLIGHT MANUAL

We are very pleased to announce that in the past few days we have completed a build of the DCS MB-339 which we believe it is good for release: we are submitting it to Eagle Dynamics for final testing.

The testing and release process will take some time, so do not expect the module to be available in the next few days - but rest assured we'll keep you posted on the release date.

As a teaser, and a final recap of the features of the package, here is the full product manual (no less than 272 pages!): we are very proud of the level of detail and realism of the package and we hope that the manual will help you appreciate it!

DCS: C-130J Announcement

We are thrilled to introduce the Airplane Simulation Company who proudly present a modernized version of a truly iconic tactical airlifter, the C-130J. The arrival of this four engined turboprop transport will bring a new era of rich logistics gameplay in DCS.

Although the C-130 first entered service nearly 70 years ago, the airframe has been continually updated, culminating with the delivery of the J model in 1999.

The ‘J’ is a modernized variant that features a glass cockpit, air-to-ground radar, FMS, and computerized airdrop capabilities designed to reduce crew workload.

Exciting additional variants are planned in the near future, including the KC versions. This will offer player to player aerial refueling, another first in DCS.

A-1H Skyraider Introduction

We are delighted to introduce a new third party developer, Crosstail Studios, who are developing the DCS: A-1H Skyraider. The ‘Spad’ excelled in the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force due to its immense payload and ability to loiter over the battlefield for extended periods. It also served with the British and French Air Forces.

The A-1H Skyraider is a single engine, low wing, attack aircraft that served most of its time during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Known for its ability to carry heavy ordnance loads, the Skyraider is powered by a Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone supercharged radial engine; the same engine that powered the B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber.

DCS: A-1H Skyraider will aim to be the most accurate representation of this aircraft for any flight simulator. Crosstail Studios has a partnership with the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, from which they have been given access to all aircraft, which includes two airworthy Skyraiders.

The Crosstail Studios team has spent an enormous amount of time recreating the A-1H Skyraider based on 3D scans from the aircraft located at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Subject matter experts have guided the flight model characteristics and other key details. Crosstail also has the support of the A-1 Skyraider Association veteran’s community to aid in the development of this magnificent aircraft.

The Skyraider was primarily used to support combat search and rescue, and it helped save countless lives during the Korean and Vietnam wars. In a world quickly evolving into jet- turbine powered aircraft, the Skyraider still managed to have a long and successful service. In fact, the A-10 Warthog was designed with some of the characteristics of the Skyraider, including heavy ordnance load capabilities and long endurance.

Crosstail Studios is also proud to announce their partnership with Echo One Niner Audio Production who will produce the A-1H Skyraider audio! The Echo 19 team has extensive resources and a passion for recreating true-to-life audio experiences. With their help, the A-1H will come out of the box sounding fantastic.

The Crosstail Studios team has put together a brief teaser video, demonstrating the potential behind their new incoming full fidelity module for DCS. Check it out!

Stay tuned for more Skyraider news on https://www.crosstailstudios.com

DCS: Tornado Introduction

We are thrilled to introduce a new third party partner. AviaStorm is pleased to announce the development of the MRCA PA-200 Tornado, IDS variant. Please read the details below.

DCS: Tornado is the epitome of the multirole aircraft jointly developed by Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. This two-seater, twin-engine, swing-wing multirole fighter was built in three variants, one of which is the Interdiction/Strike (IDS) variant. Powered by 2 RB-199 MK103 engines, the IDS was developed to meet the then NATO doctrine of low-level attacks against enemy airfields and fixed-positions, in any weather, and at any time of day.

AviaStorm's goal is to develop the best simulation of a 1989 German IDS Tornado for DCS. Their team has decades of experience in the simulation & gaming industry, and it boasts secured access to many resources (engineers, pilots, WSO, technicians and museums) that will provide them the necessary information.
