Rafale futuro caccia indiano Aereo vincitore della gara MMRCA |

Indian Government sources in New Delhi confirmed on January 31 that Dassault has been selected as the lowest bidder in the $11 billion competition to provide 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) for the Indian Air Force. Although neither the Indian Government or Defence Ministry have made an official statement on the outcome of the MMRCA bidding, Dassault issued a press release confirming its Rafale had been selected for the requirement. Dassault said that it is committed to meeting the operational requirements of the IAF and extending their long-standing co-operation. `Exclusive contract negotiations will now commence, with the aim of concluding a firm contract, although Indian Defence Minister A K Antony said that this will not be finalised before the start of the next financial year in April. Dassault had been one of only two contenders shortlisted for the MMRCA deal, the other being the Eurofighter Typhoon. After years of attempts at export sales, this deal, if concluded will be the first overseas sale of the Rafale. An initial 18 aircraft will be purchased direct from the manufacturer, with deliveries required within 36 months of contract signature, while the remaining 108 will be assembled under licence in India at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd’s facilities in Bangalore. It is expected that additional orders will follow later for up to 80 additional aircraft. FONTE: Rafale selected for Indian Air Force MMRCA requirement |
